It has been challenging to say the least with Covid to continue to train, educate, create educational opportunities for our members. The whole CDS board this year has really stepped up with some really inventive ideas! I am so touched to be included in this great group of individuals. I need to give a shout out to Paula and Kathie in the office. This year they REALLY became extra-tech-savvy! I am amazed at how much they both do in the central office totally behind the scenes. They do a wonderful job keeping everything running and organized. If you have a minute please send them a note and thank them for their hard work and years of service. Last year was particularly difficult for them with the fires. They had to evacuate the office and then return getting everything set up. Paula as you all know lost her home in the same fire and still kept everything running smoothly for CDS. She is so committed to CDS and all of us. I’d like to thank you both! Our local chapter has had a bit of a lull with Covid as I am sure many have. It is getting a new facelift Via Lauren Winfield. She is super enthusiastic and probably the busiest person I know. She is scheduling two shows in the next two months at our facility White Rock Ranch and is the new SC chapter president. She has some really great ideas for fun get togethers with everyone of course being cognizant of social distancing and protocols. Lauren is a full time veterinarian and has two lovely horses she rides trains herself. Oh and did I mention she just had a beautiful new baby girl two weeks ago? She is so motivated and organizing the show a week after having the new baby, riding the day she went into labor and riding two weeks after. I have got to say I am totally impressed, she is a great example for me of hard work and determination! We have some really good support from the chapter with many people being willing to help out, step in and volunteer, joining as board members to help infuse enthusiasm and excitement. I’d like to thank Diane Nell, my right hand person. She is an amazing scribe, such meticulous handwriting, always fun to go to shows with and has been honored with the top ten scribe award more than one time. Diane is also “me” when I am away from the barn. She makes sure the horses are all turned out, fed lunches, medications, leg wrappings, baths etc. It is too numerous to describe all she does. I know I can always count on her to keep the horses safe every day. I also want to thank Melissa Bingham, our lovely daughter who rides at our barn. She rides 6-9 horses every day and teaches lessons at our barn. We could never have this many horses and riders at our barn without her expert help. I also want to thank Sherrie Near who is our barn “decorator extraordinaire”. She makes all our beautiful laminated stall cards, signs, puts up elaborate holiday decorations and tablecloths several times a year. Louise Gaeke always keeps our water jug filled (gotta have our coffee!) and Stephanie Lutz has just brought in more beautiful flowers for our pylons. Debbie Todd keeps our fresh potted flowers pruned and replaced. Jenny Silbur Butah organizes our birthday potlucks as well as any big gifts we do as a group. Honestly everyone at our barn chips in helping out with whatever is needed, Lisa Malinowski pressure washed our poles and pylons, Emma cleans the horses waterers, Katie and Allie reorganize our little kitchen area and makes lunch baggies for the horses. Richard Newton gives the horses extra special body work and keeps them all happy. I could write pages of how all of our barn friends help keep things lovely and running smoothly. I would also like to thank Michele Mahoney and Travis Mahoney for the hard work they put in keeping White Rock clean and beautiful for us. They always keep the arenas footing lovely and are just lovely people inside and out. I am at the best barn I have ever been at. I love it here, I love the people we have in training and friends and loved ones and extended family surrounding me. Thank you all my “family” at White Rock from the bottom of my heart.
