This individual rider scholarship honors Jane Jackson. Jane was a founding member of CDS. She was active in the organization in many capacities. She served on the Scholarship Committee, as LA Chapter Chair, and as a SD Chapter board member. Applicants must be under 30 years of age and have competed at Third Level or above. Individuals who are amateurs or professionals may apply. Carol Plough Scholarship $250 deadline April 30. This individual rider scholarship honors Carol Plough. Carol served on the CDS Board for two terms. She volunteered countless hours with the year long planning of the 30th Anniversary Celebration. She organized the Southern California Junior Championship for years and was the Advanced Young Rider Chef for many years. Applicants must be 21 years of age or younger and have competed at First Level or above. Applications must also include a letter of recommendation from an instructor or equestrian professional. Sharon Carpenter - Pomona Chapter Scholarship $500– deadline April 30. Individual rider scholarship, applicants must be 21 years of age or over, a member of Pomona Chapter for minimum one year, competed at Training Level or above within the last three years and have contributed to the Pomona Chapter in a volunteer capacity within the last three years. Individuals who are amateurs or professionals may apply. RAAC Scholarship - $200. deadline April 30. Individual rider scholarship, applicants must be 22 years of age or older, possess a USEF Amateur Card and have competed at any level. Riders must have ridden in the Regional Adult Amateur Competition (RAAC) and use the scholarship funds for dressage education or competition. Three scholarships will be available each year, one from the North, one from the Central and one from the South Region. Stacey Berry Memorial Scholarship $250. deadline April 30. Individual rider scholarship, applicants must be adult amateurs and have competed at First Level or above. Applicant must have been a Sierra Nevada member for at least one year. Club 100 Scholarship $150. Deadline April 30 and July 30. To support junior riders and young riders who are competing at a minimum of Training Level. The Grant money can be used for any dressage educational purpose. Must include a copy of a test at Training Level or above from a recognized show. Both rider and owner must be members of CDS in good standing to be eligible for grants. Regional Adult Amateur Competition - RAAC The mission of these competitions is to provide an opportunity for all CDS Adult Amateur riders to qualify and compete against others of similar skills and experience. The regional nature of these shows will help provide our membership with a developmental path to gain competitive experience, to promote excellence and increase awareness of and support for CDS Chapters. Qualifying season started August 27, 2019 so your scores from this fall already count for 2020. CDS Championship scores do not count toward qualifying. Cut off for qualifying will be 12 days before the competition. Don’t forget to send in your qualifying fee of $25 (per horse and rider team / per level) to the CDS Central Office, or sign up online at wwww.california-dressage.org . Scores earned before paying your $25 fee will count toward qualifying. Winners of each level, Training through Intermediaire 1, Novice and Elite, will automatically be considered qualified for the CDS Championships. Shows selected for 2020 NORTH – Golden State Dressage and Sacramento Valley Chapter (Rancho Murieta) July 24-26 (***). CENTRAL – San Luis Obispo Chapter (Paso Robles) August 8-9 (***). SOUTH – Temecula Valley Chapter (Temecula) July 11-12(***). Juniors and Young Riders The JR/YR Championship Show North will be held July 24-26, 2020 in conjunction with the Golden State Warm Up Cool Down Show at Murieta Equestrian Center. Manager is Connie Davenport 530-277-0820. The JR/YR Championship Show South will be held August 22-23, 2020 in conjunction with the Cornerstone Cool August Nights at Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Manager is Glenda McElroy 818-841-3554. Insurance fee for Chapters The cost for CDS insurance to cover all the events, shows, clinics, and schooling shows that the chapters put on is enormous. With a large CDS membership this cost can be covered by CDS. With the current reduced membership totals, CDS must pass on some of this cost to the Chapters who hold the events. There will be a $65 insurance fee for each mounted event held by a chapter. The new insurance request form is available online under About CDS, Chapters. This must be printed out and mailed with a check or you can email the request and call with a credit card or mail a check.
