It was held at the Horse Park in Lexington. The weather was a bit cold brrrr and CONGRATULATIONS for qualifying! This elite National level competition was a head to head that included JR/YR, AA and Open division riders from Training through Grand Prix. To qualify for this prestigious event is a lifetime honor and we are so proud of the Region 7 riders attending! We are in the planning stages for our Annual Meeting to be held in the Sacramento area January 21-23. The first day will be our first live and in person board meeting since Covid hit. I think we are all really excited to have our first face to face in person meeting! On the second day, we will be presenting a fabulous program with Amelia Newcomb and demonstration horses at all levels on Suppleness through the levels and also Erika Jansson will be bringing demonstration riders to show us her fabulous cavaletti suppling exercises. Both clinicians are getting rave reviews and we are really excited to share with the membership this wonderful training and educational opportunity with these two talented instructors. Thank you to the whole Annual Meeting Committee for their hard work putting this together. On the third day there will be the hybrid portion of this year’s annual meeting via Zoom on Facebook. We start the morning with an interview with Robert Dover sharing with us information and insights about his newest book: The Gates to Brilliance: How a Gay, Jewish, Middle-Class Kid Who Loved Horses Found Success. The interview will feature a Q and A with Robert, so have your books and questions ready! After our interview we will do our chapter roundtable discussions, a fun game with Sarah Mosqueda, and Sara will also present our awards ceremony for this year’s award winners. We are really excited about this year’s hybrid event. It allows the best of both worlds, being able to meet with large groups of people from the comfort of our own homes and a fun social and educational outdoors event with friends and barn mates. Please mark your calendar to join us in January. Discounts available for early signups. Make sure to order your lunch ahead of time and there will be SHOPPING during lunch with vendor booths. Don’t forget to ask your chapters to organize chapter baskets for the silent auction. Have them post photos of your chapter basket online and collect bids for the scholarship fund. All proceeds go to the scholarship fund. I know the scholarship recipients will be so grateful for your donations! It is that time of year again to apply for SCHOLARSHIPS! Applications and criteria are found online at https://www.california - dressage.org/forms I am so happy things are getting a bit more back to normal. I have been judging, riding, training coaching and even showing this past year! I am eager to see what fun things 2022 hold for us California dressage riders. I am hopeful you can attend the annual meeting with us and I will look forward to seeing you in the show ring in 2022!!
