A big thanks to GGT Footing, this year’s meeting sponsor! You can see most of the past sessions on California Dressage Society Members page on Facebook. Friday night startedwith our Executive board session with each committee chair giving a report of what has happened and will be happening in 2021. Afterwards there was an awesome session done by Kristi Wysocki on conformation. It was really thorough from head to toe. Kristi offers an online training module at her website wydressageacademy. She suggests using kinesiology tape or plumb lines to help measure angles while determining correct conformation, and from where best to view different things on the horse. Saturday had our three regions chapter chair discussions, Northern, Central and Southern. Each chair talked about the exciting things their chapter has done in the past year and what upcoming events will be happening in 2021. Most chapters were able to begin hosting shows and clinics around June or July last year but all chapters suspended any types of social get-togethers, other than on zoom meetings. Everyone is hopeful that 2021 will return to normal later in the year. Sara Mosqueda held a really fun Kahoots game live online, and people were able to select answers on their phones and play right along. Trafalgar Square was kind enough to donate books to the winners! A huge thank you to Trafalgar Square! Awards night was right after the Kahoots game and Sara did a really wonderful job with Awards! Congratulations Everyone!! Sunday had two great educational sessions, the first was with Doris North “r” TD and the second one started with a great presentation by our Annual Meeting Sponsor GGT footing! Axel Steiner “S” judge and retired FEI judge rounded out the weekend with a fabulous informal discussion of test movements, what the judge can see from “C” and how best to present the more challenging movements and patterns. I am just giving a little teaser description here as I am hoping you will go to our California Dressage Society Members only Facebook Page and watch these presentations online!! Now for the “behind the scenes bloopers reel”... You would have been amazed at HOW MANY PREPERATORY Zoom meetings we had to make sure all the technical things went off smoothly. Paula and Kathie do not have an IT department at CDS so it is just us! It was really surprising that the hardest part of this big virtual annual meeting was making sure everyone could get online and connect via zoom with audio and video...and that all the CDS board members could load the background Paula made onto their computer, tablet, ipad or phone! It took HOURS!! LOLS There were some late nights for Paula, Kathie and I getting everything up and running but we managed to get everyone logged in and able to talk and see everyone else. Doris’s Powerpoint presentation was wonderful but it also gave us a few “heart attack” moments trying to figure out how to get it to work with zoom and Facebook live. It was great getting to see all the chapter chairs faces at the roundtable discussions both in practice and live as well as my fellow board members. I want to give an extra shout out to Carol Tice who is my “behind the scenes” guru, she takes everyone’s questions and texts them to me. Patti Schofler was fabulous in gaining sponsors for the big event. Paula is tireless and amazing. She is my hero! I am hopeful we can return to our “normal” Annual Meeting in 2022... fingers crossed everyone!!
