As inscribed on the plaque, the award is presented with honor and gratitude to those who have contributed to and upheld the goals of the West- ern States Trail Foundation, and have helped maintain the integrity and dignity of the world-class event known around the globe as The Tevis. Dru Barner was the first woman to win Tevis (1961) and worked diligently for years to help with the administra- tion and goals of the Ride. She earned 10 buckles. Roxanne Greene served on the Western States Trail Foundation for decades and is currently a Board of Gover- nors member emeritus. She has earned 21 buckles, with her first completion in 1976. It’s because of Roxanne’s focus on junior riders that there is a well-crafted junior and sponsor program. Roxanne is also responsible for the Scripps Cup that recognizes all junior riders. Marvin Jacinto, right, reads the inscription on the plaque. This award was inspired by the Dru Barner Foundation, of which Marvin was an officer.
